Every couple of months 68-year-old Ed Zevely rides into the Colorado high country to camp for weeks at a time, and does it completely alone. Through thunderstorms, open meadows and treacherous passes, he finds his own patch of serenity. Ed provides an interesting perspective, perhaps one that all of us should consider as we go through life.

Hiking in Glacier National Park
I know exactly how the guy feels. Unfortunately, cities are usually the best places to find decent jobs. Thankfully my wife and I have decent enough paying jobs with great vacation benefits. We've already taken feeler trips to the high country over the last handful of years: Glacier, Yellowstone, the Grand Circle, and the Great Smoky Mountains. Soon we will be taking a more hiking focused trip to Great Smoky Mtn. National Park. The following years will be more in-depth visits to the other places previously mentioned, as well as the Canadian Rockies and Alaska.
