Snow closes parts of the Going-to-the-Sun Road

Glacier National Park officials posted the following information on their Facebook page yesterday evening:

The Going-to-the-Sun Road is only accessible to Jackson Glacier Overlook on the east side of the park due to icy road conditions. Access to Logan Pass via the Going-to-the-Sun Road on the east side of the park will be available when temperatures increase and road conditions become better at higher elevations. This past week's storm dumped 14 inches of snow at the Logan Pass Parking Lot. Hiker-biker access is available and unlimited this weekend on the west side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Hikers and bikers please use caution as asphalt has been removed above Avalanche Creek area and road surface has loose gravel. Enjoy the weekend!
